Main Duties and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervision Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the unit.
Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authority at the level established by Management for the position.
To ensure smooth operation of activities.
2. Un-schedule /schedule Maintenance Supervises the implementation of predictive, preventive, corrective, modification and major shutdown maintenance programmes and participates in the preparation of such programmes.
Establishes requirements for major repairs or replacement of spare parts and provides advice on actions to be taken on arising problems.
Determines work priorities with other concerned personnel. Includes assessing the economic implications of various maintenance methods and ensuring effective equipment records are kept and updated.
To reach optimum maintenance at least cost.
  1. Equipment
Availability/reliability
Establishes level of equipment efficiency through regular review of equipment performance in coordination with Electrical Section Head.
Finalizes review report and failure analysis reports, highlights reasons for equipment failure and raises or reviews recommendations to rectify such malfunctions.
Suggests procedures to enhance equipment maintainability, alleviate operational anomalies and rationalizes maintenance cost.
Directs troubleshooting of chronic problems associated with plant machinery. Provides guidance to subordinates to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with correct engineering and safety standards, and follows up on such work till completion.
Ensures the preparation of engineering technical reports.
Confirms that all necessary engineering details are precisely included in appropriate standard formats.
To achieve best equipment Availability/ reliability at least cost.
  1. Modifications
Comments on equipment modifications and new equipment installation proposals. Prepares specifications and assists in the preparation of drawings by development engineering section.
Reviews bids submitted by contractors or detailed estimates provided by development engineers for coverage and technical contents.
To ensure carrying out appropriate modification in best way.

  1. Contracts & Projects
Provides technical supervision over the execution of development contracts.
Reviews regular reports submitted by contractors, provides overall assessment of their performance and alerts them of arising discrepancies or areas requiring improvement. Reviews contractors invoices prior to payment.
Participates in different stages of all major projects viz. SOR preparation, FEED, Equipment selection, spare parts set-up, pre-commissioning & commissioning.
To ensure carrying out contracts scope in proper way.
6. Spare parts Reviews annual requirements prepared by subordinates for spare parts and materials for equipment overhauls.
Advises on levels by predicting wear and tear and other factors affecting during the operating period.
Liases with stores personnel on detailed stock set ups for electrical plant, equipment and amends per field requirements.
To ensure spare parts availability at all times.
7. Budget Participates in the preparation of preliminary budget estimates for capital and operating requirements for his area.
Provides justifications for new investment proposals. Assists supervisor in controlling the approved budgets.
Reviews technical evaluation of bids pertaining to direct budget purchase requisitions.
To ensure proper budget preparation/ control at all stages.
8. T.Q.M. Proposals Reviews all T.Q.M. proposals and comments on their suitability.
Actively involves in the implementation of TQM Proposals.
Encourage TQM culture among the staff.
9. Departmental Activity Analysis/HSE Participates in the preparation of and implements detailed maintenance procedures and practices.
Ensures that activities are carried out safely and with due regard at all times to hazards, particularly in the plant. Recommends alternative maintenance frequencies based on past history of breakdowns, equipment performance data or as a result of regular condition monitoring surveys.
Carries out necessary Departmental Activity Analysis and HSE requirements related to this issue.
To ensure safe/efficient work flow in his area.
10. Training Assists in preparing training programs for National employees undergoing on the job training by identifying specific training needs.
Provides training, guidance and counselling to trainees, developees and other subordinates with a clear objective of career development.
To ensure training programs are serving the job requirements

Supervision, Planning & Organizing:
  • Supervises the implementation of electrical field and workshop activities through field and workshop supervisors and technicians.
  • Plans short, medium and long-term works including 5 years planning.
  • Organizes ongoing day-to-day activities and recording of history of equipment.

Purpose of the Subordinate Jobs:

Electrical Supervisor:
Supervises the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of a wide range of electrical equipment, control panels, power distribution systems and associated switchgears in the plant.
Electrical Technician:
Carries out the skilled installation. Maintenance and repair of a wide range of high and low voltage equipment and associated systems.
Electrician:
Carries out the skilled electrical fault finding, diagnosis and defect repairs of low voltage equipment, switch gear, control panels and associated wiring circuits in the assigned plant
Work Contacts
Internally: Daily contacts with employees up to Section Head level in Maintenance, Technical services, Operations and Safety & Fire Department to discuss and coordinate work.
External: Occasional contacts with equal level personnel in the Client and ADNOC Group companies for exchanging information. Regular contacts with contractors up to Manager level regarding execution of maintenance contracts.


Typical Experience/Knowledge required for the job:
  1. B. Sc. In Electrical Engineering.
  2. 7 years experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of a wide range of Power Generation and high voltage transmission equipment, and distribution systems and drives and other electrical equipment and associated advanced control and protection systems in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry, and/or power generation plants.
  3. Good knowledge of English both written and spoken.

  • The job incumbent should possess great deal of theoretical and practical knowledge on electrical equipment and systems of his area, and other RRD areas, and be able to maximize equipment reliability/availability, at least cost, and in a safe manner.
  • Ensures his subordinates safety, skills and efficiency. He should be able to communicate clearly and precisely both in writing as well as orally.
  • Job holder is responsible for providing essential coordination and support to wide range of activities to ensure proper technical solution to problems.
  • Develops and reviews plant modification and projects documents.
  • Prepares work control and implementation procedures to ensure proper approach to repair methods.
