Job Title: Operations Team Leader

Reports To: Site Logistics Department Manager

Division: Plant Operations

Job Location: Ruwais

Minimum Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Operation of Ammonia Storage and Material Handling system in Fertilizer / Chemical plants with 5 years being in a supervisory position
  • Must have Plant Operations management experience
  • Must be fluent in English with good communication skills.

    Purpose of the Job
  • Plans, directs and supervises all operational function of the Site Logistics Department including the handling and Storage of Ammonia and Urea. Directs and ensures the safe operation of material handling equipments like Reclaimers, Trippers, Vibrating Screens, Material Handling Conveyors, Ammonia Loading pumps, Ammonia Transfer pumps.
  • Assists SLD Manager in the planning of the Site Logistics Department's annual and five year business plans and ensures adequate allocation of staff and resources are available safe operation .Ensures the implementation of relevant policies, practices and systems and submits a long term improvement strategy for Plant Operation to the Site Logistic Department Manager. Identifies the SMART objectives and diagnoses business situation outcomes required to realise end results. Discusses procedures, regulations and changes with subordinates to ensure interactive participation
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises Ammonia and Urea storage operations, equipment management systems, including centrifugal pumps, blowers, compressors, Ammonia tanks, material handling conveyors and equipments, dust recovery system and flare systems. Ensures optimum performance of loading equipments. Ensures conveyor systems operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Directs, supervises and controls the activities of assigned personnel, including allocating work and determining priorities. Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authority as established by the Delegation of Authority Manual. Coordinates with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument and Inspection departments and HSE to ensure the safe and efficient Operation of all equipments.
  • Ensures the Ship Loading rate and targets are achieved as per the requirement of Shipping programs and Management Objectives. Ensures samples are delivered to the laboratory with details on sources for quality assurance.
  • Ensure that the Bulk loading operation is stopped during high humidity periods. Ensures the bag weights are checked and recorded as per the procedure. Ensure the bag counters and belt scales are calibrated as per the procedure.
  • Knows the Company's Health, Safety Environment and Fire Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives as they relate to his areas of responsibility and ensures that they are effectively implemented by Operation staff. Carries out routine health and safety auditing. Arranges for training of operation personnel on safe practices and emergency procedures. Ensures that personnel are equipped with the proper safety gear at duty time and are well trained as auxiliary fire fighters. Assumes an assigned role as per the Incident Emergency Plan.
  • Ensures correct procedures are implemented to protect company assets and monitors that they are fully utilised. Ensures urea quality during loading and takes remedial action if necessary. Determines level of product treatment according to destination and loading environmental conditions. Ensures that timely, accurate and regular reports are prepared and submitted as required by the management.Participates in HSE related studies includingHAZOP, HAZID, Root Cause Analysis, Risk Assessment and Audits.
  • Assist in Preparation of the annual budget proposals for Site Logistics Department. Ensures that sufficient funds are allocated for the safe operation of the plant and equipments in line with the Management strategy. Supervises and ensures all department Operational expenditure is with in the set budget allowance.
  • Mentors Department UAE National Developees, in accordance with the company's Emiratization policy. Supports development programmes to train, motivate and retain employees, providing formal and informal appraisal and feedback. Ensures the availability of updated Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Isolation procedures, Trouble shooting procedures, Operational check lists, Operational Manuals and P & ID.
  • Performs other similar or related activities as assigned by Site Logistics Department Manger
Independence of Operation:

Latitude: Devises work methods according to broadly defined policies and objectives.

Control:
  • Controls the Operation activities of the Site Logistic Department.
  • Subject to general directions from the Site Logistics Department Manger

Work Contacts:
Internal:
  • Daily contact with the Operations and Marketing Divisions for liaison on product inventory and shipping programmes and with the Availability Division for maintenance.
  • Regular contact with the Laboratory to obtain samples for quality assurance and chemical composition.
  • Regular contact with the Technical and Integrity Division for improvements to plant and equipment.
  • Regular contact with the Administration Division for personnel and training issues.
  • Regular contact with HSE for coordination of health, safety, environment and fire issues.
Work Environment:
  • Duties are performed mostly in an air conditioned atmosphere. Exposed to prevailing weather and plant conditions for 40% of the work time.
