We have a job opening with one of our potential clients in Oil and Gas -REFINERY in ABU dhabi-UAE(RUWAIS) for Sr.Systems Analyst (Information Technology)


To support the users of refinery information systems in use of applications, advise the users in applying functions appropriately, provide ad hoc support / troubleshooting in case of malfunction, install add-ons / upgrades, encourage the users to apply systems for improved productivity, provide on-the-job training to newly joining staff members, provide maintenance on applications / systems, communicate / coordinate with contractors that provide services / maintenance on behalf of the company, assess the effectiveness of applications / systems and take steps to provide the necessary training, education and consulting to improve delivery of service, write or assist in writing specifications for changes or for new applications.

Conducts feasibility study of the different approaches to implement new solutions, acts as a focal point and owner of all problems associated with Refinery Information Systems; records and analyses these to prevent reoccurrences and ensures problem resolution and close out. Takes the role of project leader for implementation of new systems and applications by evaluating hardware and software / application proposals from contractors to project management and users and witnesses FAT and SAT. Keeps abreast of up-to-date information on technology and industry practices which could deliver business information in a more readily assimilated form. Influences development of the Refinery Information Systems and works with other computer groups to define the future computing environment. In the absence of Section Head, performs duties as Refinery Information Systems Section Head.


Supports the users of refinery information systems in use of applications; advises them in applying functions appropriately.
Provides ad hoc support / troubleshooting in case of malfunction and installs add-ons / Upgrades.
Encourages the users to apply systems for improved productivity and provides on-the-job training to newly joining staff members.

Prepares and follows up maintenance contracts for existing applications.
Coordinates with Contracts department for identifying, evaluating and choosing the right contractors for maintaining the respective Application / System.


Troubleshoots problems in applications and, if required, communicates and coordinates with contactors on behalf of the company for providing maintenance on applications / systems.
Acts as focal point and owner of all problems associated with Refinery Information Systems; records and analyses these to prevent reoccurrences and ensures problem resolution and close out.

Monitors release upgrades and patches for applications and coordinates between contractors and users to get the latest release / patch.

Collects information from the users / engineers of the refinery to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.



Desired Candidate Profile

-B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline, computer science or information systems.
-Minimum 7 years of experience in administering Microsoft SQL and Oracle as well as using all Refinery Applications such as Lab Information Management System, Process Industry Modeling System (PIMS), PI Real time database and Mass Balancing Packages.
-Sufficient skills in Structured System Analysis, System Design and Data Modeling.
-Good knowledge of English Language both written and spoken.


Those working or available in UAE would be preferred.Refinery experience is preferable.
