This vacancy is with our government client, undertaking projects in oil & gas sector.

Job Purpose and Scope:
The Technical Support Specialist provides expert-level support to Well Operations in drilling and completions technology to ensure technical excellence (Drill the Right Well Right) is achieved.
Principal Accountabilities
¿ Provides expert-level support to Well Operations in specialized technology areas which may include:
o Wellheads and Christmas Trees
o Down hole Completion String Design
o Directional Drilling
o Drill String and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) / Hydraulics design
o Wellbore Stability
o Stimulation
o Well Control
o Standards and Specifications/ Procedures and Practices
¿ Trouble shoots operational / technical drilling and completion specialized related problems.
¿ Provides technical / operational input to proposed drilling and completion specialized programs if requested.
¿ Networks with Manufacturer, Service Company and Shareholder specialists.
¿ Provides expert advice on related issues for pilot projects.
¿ Ensures that best practices and lessons learned are incorporated in well operations.
¿ Keeps abreast of industry research and development in specialized areas.
¿ Participates in industry organizations such as SPE, API and/or IADC.
¿ Advises Technical Support Team Leader on competency requirements covering specialized areas for Well staff.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
¿ Contact with other Well Operations Sections and Groups (Teams), principally the Drilling and Completions Engineering and Operations Sections, on a daily basis to ensure provision of technical support.
¿ Contact with Shareholder Specialists.
¿ Contact with Support Services as required.
¿ Contact with Services Companies when necessary.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
¿ Responsible for ensuring technical support (expertise) in specialized technology is provided to the Well Operations Sections in a timely manner.
¿ Decides priorities, bring in new ideas and technology and provide expertise in the function area to achieve required performance standards.

Minimum Requirements
¿ Degree in relevant Engineering discipline such as Petroleum or Mechanical.
¿ Minimum five years experience and knowledge of drilling and completions/workovers engineering specialized technology.
¿ Minimum three years experience in offshore operations related drilling, completion and workover activities (Desired).
¿ Computing skills including MS Office
¿ Knowledge of Drilling Information Management System (DIMS)
¿ Safety training
¿ Same base skills as Drilling and Completions / Workovers Engineers.
¿ Specialized knowledge skills as required which may include:
o Wellheads and Christmas Trees
o Downhole Completion String Design
o Directional Drilling
o Drill String and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) / Hydraulics design
o Wellbore Stability
o Stimulation
o Well Control
o Standards and Specifications/ Procedures and Practices
