Main Activities

The Category Specialist - Materials assists the Head of Category Management ¿ Materials in managing assigned categories within the Strategic Sourcing team. The Category Specialist supports the successful implementation, execution, and compliance to procurement spends category strategies, contracts, processes, and policies. The Category Specialist works with customers and suppliers, on a global and regional basis, to drive contract utilization and continuous improvement, and improved cost benefit results.

Business Alignment
¿ Develop and implement feedback mechanisms to determine end user satisfaction levels; respond to issues and concerns; lead supplier business review meetings and collaborate with teams in managing alliance supplier efforts.
¿ Present reports of findings and recommendations for improvements.
¿ Identify and qualify the right suppliers on a regional scale. Execute new program launch from scoping and evaluation to implementation in a timely fashion.

Strategy Development
¿ Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies in support of the overall Procurement strategy
¿ Maintain and enhance business relationships between the company and Strategic Alliance suppliers; counsel and educate suppliers and customers to achieve service, quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance objectives
¿ Support and interface with procurement organization on system-wide sourcing initiatives.

Execution
¿ Manage current contract portfolio and assist with implementation and on-going management of new sourcing initiatives.
¿ Conduct complex market and internal data analysis to ensure alliance supplier performance; identify maverick spend and additional contract utilization opportunities.
¿ Negotiate all elements of assigned supplier relationships to ensure lowest total cost of ownership, including product cost, various commercial terms and performance metrics.
¿ Provides support and assistance to the Head of Category Management ¿ Materials to ensure strategies developed for Materials Categories are prioritized, aligned and co-ordinated with the overall program of work for the Materials Category team.

¿ Collaborate In Cross-Functional Efforts To Reduce Costs, Standardize Materials/Components/Commodities, And Adapt New Supplier Technologies
¿ Develop And Manage Functional Supplier Relationships With Assigned Key/Strategic Suppliers To Optimize Financial And Operational Performance
¿ Execute Supplier And Cost Management System/Metrics For Assigned Suppliers And Demonstrate Continuous Improvement
¿ Identify And Execute Opportunities For Procurement Cost Reduction And Supplier Performance Improvement, Including Alternating Suppliers And Products, Renegotiating Contracts To Account For Market Changes, And Working In Conjunction With Appropriate Functional Areas As Needed
¿ Negotiate Contracts To Meet Company Specification, Quality And Cost Goals
¿ Resolve Commercial Issues Associated With Supplier Performance Issues, And Cost Recovery For Quality Problems And Rework
¿ Resolve Communication Issues And Reinforce Communication Process Established Between Procurement, End Users And Suppliers In Addressing Performance Issues
¿ Within Their Assigned Commodity Area, Assist In Strategy, Sourcing, Negotiation, Contract Preparation, Implementation And Contract Administration

Minimum Requirements:

¿ Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain management/Purchasing, Business, Finance or Engineering
¿ Professional certification: CIPS, CPM, APICS, P.E. is beneficial
¿ 5 years experience as Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Commodity Manager (or equivalent)
¿ Demonstrated leadership capability
¿ Plant operations knowledge and experience
¿ Multiple language skills preferred
