Job description
This vacancy is for a leading Fertilizer company based in Abu Dhabi, UAE1. Basic Function:
Carries out preventive and breakdown maintenance and calibration of all on-line (plant) analyzers, laboratory equipment, gas detection system and portable equipment utilized by HSE Department personnel. Includes carrying out various preventive maintenance and calibrations checks of field analyzers in accordance with established weekly schedule (each analyzer is checked at least once weekly). Calibrates transmitters, vibrating probes, different types of flow meters, gas analyzers including the calibration of weighing scales or any other job associated with process plant, as directed by the Engineers and/or Section Head.
2. Work Performed:
2.1 Carries our routine daily checks and calibrations of a wide variety of analyzers in the ammonia, urea and utility plants such as H2S and O2 analyzers, gas chromatographs, PH meters, infra red and thermal conductivity analyzers etc.. Repairs or rectifies any routine problems as observed and informs Engineer of any serious abnormalities for his advice and direction .
2.2 Carries out routine preventive maintenance on analyzers in accordance with schedule, such as replacing cylinders for span, carrier or zero gas. Completes brief work reports giving details of work performed.
2.3 Carries out routine check-up of laboratory equipments including gas chromatograph, gas detection systems, repairing workshop equipment and equipment used by the HSE Department.
2.4 Carried out breakdown maintenance of all analyzers equipment as directed by Engineer and maintenance of any instrument associated with the distribution control system in the field and equipment room as assigned. Also replaces piping up to 3/8 inch diameter/20 bar pressure
2.5 Carried out a variety of repairs for instruments/components brought to the workshop for maintenance, such as repairing electronic cards, regulators, column regeneration, sample cell cleaning etc.
2.6 Logs all works performed in the field, workshop etc. in the log book on a daily basis, and prepares the time sheets of all technicians working in the Instrument Department.
2.7 Ensures the proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment and that proper housekeeping is carried out in the field and workshop after maintenance.
2.8 Attends to all call out jobs associated with the plant during off duty hours (during week-end and public holidays).
2.9 Adheres to company HSE Policies, Procedures and complies to established Work Permit System.
2.10 Prevents, report unsafe working conditions and contributes to HSE awareness promotion.
3. Work Contacts
Have regular contacts with Operators to check Instrument performance and with other Maintenance staff to the next higher level, to coordinate maintenance work.
4. Independence Of Operation:
Reports to Instrument Engineer. Works according to established procedures and specialized electronic/instrumentation technical standards. Work is checked as a matter of procedure by Engineer or Supervisor.
5. Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervise the assigned Contractor Technicians to assist with the work, and in such cases, provides work direction to these personnel.
6. Physical Effort:
Moderate effort in standing, walking, some climbing and handling tools and equipment, for up to 80% of the time.
7. Work Conditions:
Spends up to 80% of the time in Plant environment and exposed to prevailing conditions of heat, noise, fumes and dirt.
8. Minimum Requirements:
a) Completion of Secondary (12 years) education and two years relevant technical training in Electronics or Control Systems.
b) Eight (08) years electronic instrumentation maintenance experience in a Fertilizer or Petrochemical Plant, including significant experience with field and laboratory analyzers.
