Job description
This vacancy is for our client, Government Petrochemical Company based in Abu Dhabi, UAEPurpose:
¿ Provides expertise and assumes responsibility for areas related to Corrosion Monitoring an Control in Ruwais Refinery Division. Reviews the metallurgy of the equipment and piping and makes recommendations for upgrading as required. Reviews the operating conditions to assess and monitor corrosive condition and evaluates the material performance in all corrosive systems
¿ Reviews the metallurgy for the modifications and major projects. Upgrades procedures and specifications related to Corrosion Management and Inspection activities and recommends repairs/operating parameter s to extend the life of equipment and piping
¿ Carries out failure analysis and failure investigations in order to enhance safety and integrity of the plant. Supervises the cathodic protection system and monitoring of piping, tanks, marine and concrete structures. Updates/prepared the records and Corrosion/inspection files for the plant and equipment
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
¿ Corrosion Monitoring & Corrosion Control
Conducts Corrosion monitoring and corrosion control for the plants equipment, storage tanks and pipelines and prepared periodic corrosion reports
¿ Cathodic Protection
Reviews the existing cathodic protection systems design, highlights problems and suggest improvements
¿ Projects Specifications
Reviews project specifications for corrosion control, material and quality assurance aspects
¿ Failure Analysis
Reviews the inspection/corrosion observations and analyzes the same after turnaround and on-stream inspections an makes the necessary recommendations
¿ Corrosion Monitoring tools
Reviews the existing corrosion monitoring tools and advises upgrading as required
¿ Corrosion Control Policies/Procedures
Reviews the Corrosion control policies/procedures and upgrade the same as required
¿ Replica
Carries out on site metallography using the replica techniques, evaluates microstructure condition and issue reports
¿ Risk Based Inspection
Carries our thorough and detailes review of all RRD units to define the corrosion loops and carries out detailed study to meet the requirements of Risk based inspections
Supervision, Planning & Organizing
¿ Provides technical advice and expertise to the Division
¿ Provides work guidance to inspection engineers and Inspectors
¿ Reviews and upgrades corrosion control and corrosion monitoring systems within RRD to maintain plant integrity
Minimum Requirements:
¿ B. Sc in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
¿ 7 years experience in Process and Utilities of Petroleum refineries, Chemical Process plants, Petrochemical plants of which 4 years as specialist in Corrosion Engineering
¿ Good Knowledge of English
About the Job:
The Senior Corrosion Engineer position reports to Section Head and being the only such job in the Division, he is expected to provide expert advice to RRD Management in the field of corrosion. The jobholder is responsible for issuing reports explaining reasons and causes for matters related to material degradation, corrosion monitoring and control. The job required long experience in the Corrosion Engineering field, backed up with appropriate qualifications. He is expected to keep abreast with the latest technology in the field of plant integrity, corrosion monitoring control and failure investigation.
