Job description
This vacancy is for our client, Government Company undertaking projects in oil & gas sector based in Abu DhabiJob Purpose:
Administers Enterprise Data Management policies to ensure efficient utilization of resources and adequate protection of ADMA¿s information assets. Ensures the availability, integrity and reliability of Information Technology Data to support & maintain IT services in compliance with the company policy standards and procedures
Principal Accountabilities:
¿ Administers data management system by installing TSM (Tivoli Storage Management), registering new clients in the system. Produces daily report, which covers back up activities. Implements the necessary back up and recovery system to prevent loss of data. Organizes tapes libraries and monitors security regulations and other related documentation to ensure that Company data is protected
¿ Develops and contributes to IT strategy, policies, procedures and standards. Participates in Feasibility studies and subsequent implementations. Participates in IT budgets and follows up expenditures
¿ Prepares IT technical documentations. Gathers & analyzes IT technical requirements and conducts/participates in Technical evaluation
¿ Analyzes requirements for data storage resources, taking into account current and future requirements. Monitors resources utilization and recommends measures to be implemented to ensure optimum usage and performance. Recommends changes of specifications, or initiates requests for additional equipment in the light of additional requirements
¿ Provides extra back up copies of software to recover the data in case of TSM failure to ensure prompt recovery of information for client
¿ Monitors client backup schedules, TSM performance and troubleshoots TSM problems
¿ Arranges backup for databases. Monitors IT services using Performance tools and techniques. Evaluates and reviews manufacturer¿s products. Tests new procedures, software or modifications
¿ Receives requests for archiving projects and data from end users in order to save it for required periods, to ensure the historical data are maintained for future reference
¿ Conducts regular testing of disaster recovery plans, includes circulating data copies to fireproof safes and other storage pools to ensure TSM database is safeguarded in case of a disaster. Studies new disaster recovery recommendations and implements them if required
¿ Keeps abreast of technological developments in the storage discipline and identifies those applicable within area of responsibility, undertakes examination of such products and suggests the use of such items to supervise for further consideration
¿ Works in line with HSE policy, and ensures awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates
Minimum Requirements:
¿ Bachelor degree in Computer Information system or equivalent
¿ 7-8 years of experience in Information Technology of which at least three years is specialized in Data Storage. Comprehensive knowledge of data Storage tools and technologies
¿ Excellent knowledge of the latest software products in use by the Company
¿ Good knowledge of English
