MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE SECTION HEAD
Division: Maintenance Department

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Directs, coordinates and supervises all mechanical maintenance and workshop activities in the plant and off-sites. Includes participating in the preparation of maintenance programmes, directing the implementation of such programmes, investigating modification and new projects proposals, examining equipment performance and providing recommendations to enhance maintainability and to minimize maintenance cost, Ensuring that all maintenance services are provided safely and efficiently.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

AREA OF WORK Activity Analysis /HSE
RESPONSIBILITIES
¿ Prepares and implements detailed maintenance and workshop work procedures and practices ensuring that activities are carried out safely, recommending alternative maintenance frequencies based on equipment history or as a result of regular vibration monitoring surveys in pursuit of optimization
¿ Also reviews task analysis with special reference to potential loss and safety hazards including identifying critical tasks

RESULTS REQUIRED
To ensure proper safe efficient working conditions

AREA OF WORK Equipment
Monitors the performance and maintenance cost for various mechanical and workshop equipment includes providing recommendations to enhance maintainability, alleviate operations anomalies and minimize maintenance cost of such equipment.
¿ Ensures that problem solving maintenance services are provided efficiently and expediently by subordinates

RESULTS REQUIRED
To Keep enhancing equipment performance as per Takreer milestones.

AREA OF WORK
Materials/ Stock set ups
RESPONSIBILITIES
¿ Liaises with subordinates and stores personnel on detailed stock set ups for mechanical plant equipment and spare parts includes supervising the preparation of purchase requisitions and stores issue vouchers and approves within delegated authorities as well as the inspection and acceptance of new materials or spare parts.
¿ Also reviews requirements for any new equipment or major repairs, evaluates use of existing as well as new proposals, and raises recommendations to supervisor

RESULTS REQUIRED
To ensure no material shortage at any point of time and that delivered materials are in accordance with company bidder list and specifications.

AREA OF WORK
Consolidation
RESPONSIBILITIES
¿ Ensures that effective equipment, Maximo electronic and hard copy records are kept and updated for all equipment and that regular preventive and condition monitoring surveys are carried out by subordinates and evaluates the economic considerations at all times in determining a particular course of action
¿ Also Liaises with other Maintenance Section Heads and senior Operations Department personnel to coordinate inter discipline work activities or to arrange for plant shutdowns, including participating in such shutdowns, major overhauls and other maintenance planning activities
RESULTS REQUIRED
To maintain proper history recording system for current and future use

AREA OF WORK
Budget Estimation
RESPONSIBILITIES
¿ Prepares preliminary budget estimates for a capital and operating requirement includes provision of annual manpower and contactor utilization forecasts
¿ Ensuring that strict control is exercised over expenditures, authorizes low cost fabrication or refurbishment of plant requirements or spare parts when justified to reduce operating costs and provides written justifications in advance of any variances with approved budgets

RESULTS REQUIRED
To achieve optimum maintenance maximum availability/reliability at least cost.

AREA OF WORK Miscellaneous
RESPONSIBILITIES
¿ Investigates suggestions for modifications e.g. T.Q.M. to existing equipment or the installation of new equipment in the plant
¿ Review bids submitted by Contractors or detailed estimates provided by engineers. Also reviews invoices and endorses for further payment processing.
¿ Determines requirements, supervises and participates in the preparation of preliminary specifications and drawings and discusses the same with the Development Engineering Section Head
RESULTS REQUIRED
¿ To keep enhancing plant performance
¿ To ensure using optimum offers.

SUPERVISION, PLANNING & ORGANIZING:
¿ Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Mechanical Section
¿ Plans annual Capital/Operating budget, monitors/rationalize the expenditure including 5 years planning
¿ Organizes short / medium / long term business in line with Takreer Policy / regulation / procedures




PURPOSE OF THE SUBORDINATE JOBS:
Sr. Mech. Engineer/Mech. Engineer:
To perform field or workshop duties related to Mechanical Section in different plant areas.

WORK CONTACTS

Internally: Daily contacts with employees up to Manager level in maintenance, technical services, operations and safety & fire department to discuss, arrange and coordinate work requirements.

External: Occasional contacts with equal level employees in other company plants, Abu Dhabi based Takreer Departments and ADNOC Group Companies for exchanging information
Regular contacts with contractors, manufacturers and vendors representatives regarding maintenance services

ABOUT THE JOB:

Being the largest section from all aspects of workforce, maintenance expenditure, workload, equipment criticality functionality, and sizeability, the job is quite serious and demanding highly engineering, dynamic selective candidate, with long engineering experience background.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

¿ B. Sc. In Mechanical Engineering
¿ 9 years experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of heavy rotating and stationary equipment out of which 4 years should have been in a similar senior supervisory position in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry
¿ Computer Literate
¿ Good knowledge of English
