Job description
Job Title : F.G.T Engineer
Job Location : Ruwais
Minimum Requirements:
- B.Sc/B.E./B.Tech. in Electronic/Electrical/Communication Engineering Graduate.
- Must have Good knowledge of production facilities in an oil /gas or petrochemical industry and of installation, repair, testing and maintenance of a wide range of electrical, Fire detection, Telecom systems with minimum 8 years of experience.
- Must be fluent in English with Good communication skills.
Responsible for providing specialized technical support, troubleshooting and failure analysis of all Fire & Gas systems and Telecommunication systems consisting of Telephone Exchange (PABX), Public Address System & Wireless Radio System and other low power systems such as CCTV System, Access Control System.
Participates in review of preventive maintenance strategy, PM plans, and spare parts availability to improve the reliability of above systems. Also performs reviews and participates in the engineering studies, proposes up gradation projects with budget estimates.
Work Performed:
- Directs and supervises the activities assigned to the supervisors / technicians to carry out troubleshooting of problems occurring in the Fire & Gas and Telecom area, recommending corrective actions and follow up to implement the same.
- Perform failure analysis of repeated problems in the area of responsibilities, find root cause and suggest and implement improvements.
- To establish communication and liaise with vendors to resolve major issues when necessary in consultation with section/department authority.
- Responsible for pre-commissioning, commissioning, SAT, Start-up activities and prepare punch list for new equipment and systems.
- Prepare operating Budget (OPEX) and Capital Budget (CAPEX) based on requirement and company guidelines.
- Responsible to prepare training programs for UAE National Developees in his area and closely monitor the development program and update assessment reports as necessary.
- Continuously review the preventive maintenance program of Fire &Gas and Telecom systems and ensure that they are reliable and optimum maintenance is performed.
- Prepare jobs list and its method of execution for major turnarounds. Prepare scope of work and arrange vendor for major repair & overhauling activities.
- Prepares maintenance technical manuals and procedures for critical maintenance tasks.
- Periodically review the spare parts availability and identify missing parts and take action to get the necessary spare parts required for maintenance.
- Reviews and assesses the reliability of major F&G and Telecom equipment, and take immediate action if there is any problem.
- Ensures cost-effective solutions and applications of value added engineering throughout the implementation of assigned projects.
- Designs in-house engineered works including drawings, specifications/data sheets and bills of quantities.
- Prepare technical specifications for contract/purchase requisitions for F&G and Telecom equipment and systems.
- Assist Material Engineer in technical evaluation of bids relevant to spare parts submitted by vendors and provide technical clarification to get right parts from vendors.
- Manages activities of F&G Maintenance Contractor in order to have a reliable system.
Work Contacts:
Frequent contact with personnel in Plant Availability and Operation Departments for planning and effective handling of maintenance jobs. Also maintains contact with Materials & Procurement Departments personnel for checking material availability and to order new requirements. Occasional contacts with contractors and manufacturers' representatives for negotiation and/or development of new proposals.
Independence of Operations:
Works according to established engineering standards, company procedures and policies. Take all technical decisions in consultation with team leader. Reports to and Performance is reviewed by Electrical Section Team Leader.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provide work direction to Supervisors / Technicians.
Physical Effort:
Spends up to 30% of the work time in the Plant standing, walking and climbing and occasionally when carrying out an in depth study of the performance of various equipment.
Work Conditions:
25% of the work time is spend exposed to Plant conditions and prevailing climate, including heat, fumes, dirt and noise.
