Our client, a leading oil and gas company is looking forward to recruit Telemetry Technician

Purpose & Scope
Installation/commissioning/Calibration/loop checking/Corrective & Preventive maintenance of wide range of process control instruments/Well head control instruments PLC/DCS/SCADA/RTU/ ESD/Fire & Gas/Vibration/anti-surge controls/Safety Equipment (Gas monitoring and H2S monitor)

Installs, overhaul, commission, maintain and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical and Analytical Instrument and Control systems used on Offshore Oil & Gas Production Platforms and Wellhead towers for the telemetry system

Plans work and repairs on communication systems like Line of Sight, radio system, company PC network and telephone system. Plans work and repair of networks. Assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting on PLC controlled equipment Participate in commissioning and ¿run in¿ of new equipment

Work Performed
¿ To perform preventive, corrective and troubleshooting maintenance and testing of all plant telecommunication and Radio equipment, to maintain availability and reliability
¿ The telecommunications technician reports to the telemetry/telecoms/instrument supervisor
¿ The equipment under his responsibility includes PABX telephone exchange, CCTV systems, public Address, Intercom, Alarms, Trunk and Conventional Networks, Local Area Networks and Low Current Systems
¿ To support the testing and fault finding of these systems, various types of test equipment such as Cable fault analyzers, radio test equipment, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers and camera test rigs are used, plus laptop computers with diagnostic software
¿ To carry out preventive, corrective and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, based on the daily work orders assigned by the supervisor
¿ To respond/coordinate with other affiliate remote site technical personnel in troubleshooting ISDN and Etisalat network faults and normalizing network digital links
¿ To comply with all company Health,, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures
¿ To test trunk radios, base stations, portable and mobile radios according to specifications
¿ To report and participate in locating and rectifying any network equipment and link abnormalities
¿ To perform installation, maintenance and repair/rehabilitation of existing cable network and accessories
¿ To update drawings, records and other documents related to the telecommunication network
¿ To participate in the diagnosis of major faults with the Supervisor and carry out routine investigation of anomalies
¿ To troubleshoot, identify and isolate any faults reported either in communication links or telecom equipment
¿ To complete necessary records in the MAXIMO system for work order spares, materials and manpower schedules
¿ To ensure smooth integration between various Telecommunication section equipment, considering the diverse types and ages of equipment on all sites

HSE Role
¿ Participate in safety / toolbox meetings
¿ Ensure compliance with HSE Regulations, procedures and standards, including permit to work as performing authority
¿ Report near misses

Organizational Relationship/Latitude
¿ Reports to Supervisor
¿ Daily contact with maintenance team personnel up to supervisor level to coordinate/resume maintenance, hook-up and repair work required for Instruments and Control Systems
¿ Works according to company¿s standards procedures, instructions and technical specifications, take initiative in diagnosing faults and correcting them
¿ Completed work is spot checked by supervisor

Minimum Requirements
¿ Secondary technical certificate plus 2 years formal training in electrical, electronic or instrumentation related to control systems
¿ 3 years diploma in electronics engineering or equivalent or 5 years experience in the maintenance and repair of pneumatic and electronic instrumentation on offshore oil installations
¿ At least 4 yrs experience in the overhaul & repair of instrumentation & control equipment in an oil refining or related industry
¿ Strong working knowledge of the principles, practices & technology associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of instrument and control equipment installed in refineries
¿ Good knowledge of spoken and written English
