Job description
This vacancy is with our client, leading Petrochemical Company undertaking projects in oil & gas sector in Abu Dhabi.JOB OBJECTIVE:
Providing technical advice to the operations units on process issues.
Providing other Technical Services, including process improvement studies, performance optimization, incident investigations, economic evaluations, technical audits and Process safety studies.
Carrying out other process engineering work in any of the Companys process areas as assigned that includes carrying out regular process audits in the Plant; trouble-shooting and general process engineering studies; regular analyses of production data and preparation of lost time and consumption reports. Liaises on systems development work on the computerized control systems used to provide engineering data.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Reviews daily output or production and raw materials data received either from the Ammonia and Urea Production Departments. Checks print-outs on a regular basis comparing actual occurrences against pre-set parameters.
Prepares daily, weekly, monthly production report with main highlights of plant activities. Provides input for Division Balance Score Card, Technical Coordination meeting presentation and Board Advisory Committee meeting presentation.
Participates in process trouble-shooting in any of the areas of the Plant. Provide feedback to the requests Operations Departments for checking of in-process situations that do not conform to standards.
Carries out process engineering work, such as modifications to the process for the purposes of optimizing energy consumption or consumption of raw materials or to increase the general efficiency of the Plant.
Conducts HAZOPs meetings of Change Management Requests (CMRs) raised by any Department and issue HAZOP reports. Carry out HAZOP of any new and revised SOP. Provides and reviews the relevance of standards, code of practice and specification in Process engineering discipline.
Actively participates in HAZID and HAZOP review during the various stages of the Projects.
Liaises with the Information Systems Department in Abu Dhabi to investigate software requirements and follow up on any modifications to the bought in packages, to ensure relevance and reliability of the system.
Participates in the preparation of the production loss analysis. Investigates reasons for loss, prepares statistical analysis and carries out independent checks on losses incurred. Provides comments on possible process reasons for losses and suggests improvements where applicable.
Maintains comprehensive process records and files and updates all process changes in such records.
Assists, when required, in special analysis and tests on the process and in the interpretation of such test data to provide further process information. Coordinates such activities with Laboratory and production personnel.
Compiles process parameter data and sends to Licensor / vendor for their evaluation on performance of different units including, but not limited to, Catalytic reactors, Compressors, Urea Client Equipment, and Granulator etc.
Technical evaluation of process related materials and provide feedback to Material Department.
Prepares and/or reviews of calculations, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, vendor drawings, vendor technical evaluations and similar deliverables produced by others.
Facilitates and follows up the training of Process Engineer Developees.
Provides inputs for Yearly Budget and 5- Year Business Plan.
Provides assistance during Project activities performed by Engineering Contractor engaged for FEED & EPC contracts, which includes reviewing and verifying P&IDs, PFDs, and Material balance, Datasheets, Technical Specifications.
Identifies and evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
Assists in cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
Assists in benchmarking process design/drafting to identify areas of improvements.
WORK CONTACTS:
Regular contacts with Production, Technical & Integrity and Plant Availability Division personnel at all levels in Ruwais to obtain source data, discuss problems and during the performance evaluation. Occasional contacts with the Information Technology Department in Abu Dhabi to discuss software requirements and deal with process control problems.
Occasional contacts with his counter parts in the ADNOC Group companies for day-to-day activities of the companies related to technical areas.
Occasional contacts with Process Licensors / Vendors for performance evaluation, trouble shooting and various day to day issues.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRE FOR THE JOB:
Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
10 years process engineering experience in a chemical fertilizer plant or petrochemical complex or in a process group of a consulting engineering company.
Good Knowledge of Process Engineering calculations.
Good written and spoken English.
