Our client, a leading oil and gas company based in Abu Dhabi is looking forward to recruit Process Department Manager

Basic Function and Scope
To manage development and consistent application of standards related to process engineering across all sites and projects (Major & Technical) to contribute to high safety and reliability of the company¿s operations and fulfilment of production targets

The major challenge for department manager is to provide efficient support to the sites to cope with the increasing content of H2S and impurities in the feed gas and increasing complexity of processing assets

Task, Duties and Accountabilities
¿ To manage the Department in executing the long term and yearly operational plans and to provide the required contribution to the achievement of the Division¿s and Company¿s objectives
¿ To act as Technical Authority in areas of process engineering and to ensure that all process engineering activities are done competently according to recognized codes and standards and widely accepted engineering practices
¿ To regularly monitor key performance indicators of the operating plants and to support the plants in identifying and resolving technical issues that impact production in terms of throughout, product quality, and efficient use of energy
¿ To delegate and supervise the implementation of performance objectives for the Department based on single point accountabilities as well as to establish monitoring mechanisms in order to ensure that these objectives are delivered and to ensure ISO 9001 quality objectives are achieved
¿ To manage provision of effective technical advice and expert support in the areas of process engineering to Operations, Technical and Project Groups, including leading failure analyses, to contribute to high reliability and efficiency of the existing operations and success of the projects
¿ To manage the budget, tools and human resources of the Department to achieve the objectives in an effective and cost-conscious manner
¿ To manage technical studies, research and knowledge build up in the areas of process engineering to proactively identify areas of improvement and innovation, to incorporate lessons learnt as well as to recommend upgrades, modifications and improvements to the existing systems in the Operations, Major Projects and Technical Group
¿ To provide innovative concepts to internal end users (including Operations, Technical Projects, Major Projects and Commercial Division) as well as to endorse plans for Pre-FEED and FEED, and the changes in specifications of EPC for technical and major projects to ensure consistent application of technical standards across the sites and projects. To take a leading role in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability), studies for new and modified units
¿ To advise and support the operating divisions regarding environmental issues and energy optimization studies with the aim of minimizing environmental impact by reducing emissions to the environment and optimizing energy utilization. Plan and execute studies on environmental engineering to minimize the negative impact on the environment.
¿ To coordinate with ADNOC group companies and the customers¿ process engineering activities relevant to importing and exporting process streams from/to these companies. This includes ensuring qualities and quantities of product and feed streams are compatible with the design and operation of all concerned companies as well as ensuring reliability and HSE standards are met
¿ To communicate the company¿s and the departments objectives and business context to ensure alignment and common understanding of the objectives (in particular the HSE objectives) to the different company departments and divisions as well as to other industrial shareholders
¿ To support the chemical engineering department of the Petroleum Institute (PI) and other local universities in their research activities by providing suggestions and data that will guide research and ensure that such research has relevance and potential benefit to the company¿s activities/operations
¿ To advise on utilization of new process technologies based on actual needs of the different operating units
¿ To ensure that most reliable simulation software is being used effectively and efficiently in all areas of process engineering, unit operations and HSE activities. To ensure all department staff are adequately trained and competent to use the provided software.
¿ To manage the scheduling of engineering activities carried out by the department to ensure timely and effective provision of requested engineering services to other divisions.
¿ To manage the development, reviews and effective communication of process engineering related policies, standards and procedures based on ADNOC guidelines and industry best proactive to effectively build centre of technical excellence in the company and ensure the highest quality of the technical solutions and services provided
¿ To identify gaps in staff competencies and to pursue opportunities to develop them by coordinating with the Departments of the Human Capability Division to establish a competent workforce driving for improvement with special attention to UAE Nationals and to support the company in achieving the Emiratization targets

Reports to VP-Technical & Engineering Support
Determines work method from directives received from supervisor, from established precedents, professional standards and established policies where exist

Minimum Requirements
¿ Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering
¿ 14 or above years experience in Process Technology, Process Control and Environment works, of which 8 years in a Senior Supervisor position; 5 years in gas plant or refinery
¿ Good experience on process simulations and other computer applications

Problem Solving & Job Complexity
Perform work assignments guided by policy, precedents, professional standards and managerial or technical expertise. Positions have the latitude to develop or redefine procedure and interpret policy so long as other work areas are not affected. In technical, scientific and administrative areas have depth or breadth of expertise developed through extensive relevant experience and application
