Job description

This position is for our client, an Oil & Gas Company based in Abu Dhabi.

Activities:
¿ Carries out a variety of maintenance related activities such as trouble shooting, diagnosis repair, modification and new projects.
¿ Develops and updates maintenance schedules and ensures safe and efficient implementation.
¿ Maintains a log of all maintenance work carried out, as well as performance data files on equipment.
¿ As system specialist for DCS.ESD, F&G systems maintains equipment, develops programs and updates kardex for follow up of all instrumentation control system modification
¿ Responsible for the maintenance of Control Commands, Distributed Control Systems, Telemetry, UPS, radio VHP, ESD and fire and gas systems.
¿ Supervises the activities of junior technicians doing preventive maintenance on field instruments.
DUTIES PERFORMED (Mental Demands)
¿ Carries out programs, modifications and configuration on DCS, triplicate PLCs, other PLCs, ESD, F&G systems, etc...
¿ Carries out the repair/maintenance of the various Control system equipment and personally troubleshoots major jobs. Includes diagnosing faults, determining optimal procedure/equipment etc... to rectify, and initiates repairs accordingly.
¿ Supervises the efficient and safe implementation of preventive maintenance schedules. Includes determining priorities, allocating manpower and equipment/tools and ensures the timely completion of jobs according to schedule and work permits,
¿ Evaluates performance of electronic equipment and recommends modifications, as necessary to enhance/improve safety and efficiency and minimize cost of such. Ensures the update of files for any modification carried out.
¿ Reviews recommended modifications or projects, studies the technical feasibility and gives recommendation on standardization of materials and compatible equipment. Participates in defining and listing spare parts for such projects, as well as pre-commissioning and commissioning of these mentioned jobs.
¿ Coordinates with other sections / services for shutdowns, modifications or maintenance jobs and liaises with production for control of the plant
¿ Hands over rotation reporting to back to back counterpart. Includes briefing on main events and any required follow up action.
¿ Liaises with Instrument Supervisor to define optimum stock and re-order levels and to ensure availability of spare parts and ensuring availability of critical spare parts. Knowledge on relevant TOTAL General Specifications / CMS /CR with specific knowledge on Cyber Security and obsolescence.
¿ Prepares documentation regarding equipment to be sent onshore for repair or overhaul-Includes indicating diagnosis, findings and recommendation of actions to be taken.
¿ Acts, as a member of the "Medical Support Team", under the supervision of the Medic to give assistance in case of intervention, or during exercises
¿ Performs electrical isolations defined by appropriate procedure,
¿ Performs other similar duties such as screening of candidates CVs for recruitment, etc.,

Work Contacts:
Frequent contacts with safety, production and other maintenance disciplines staff mainly at own level for exchange of information and coordination.
Independence of Operations f Responsibility for actions or decisions):
Completed work is spot-checked and overall performance is reviewed by supervisor, (but is independent for many technical jobs such as studies, engineering, and programming in his field of competence).
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides work direction to 1 Junior Technician.
During shutdown, can manage up to 5 spot technicians.

Physical Effort:
Slight physical effort of standing, walking and climbing 20% of work time.
Work Conditions:
Exposed to dirt, heat, grease, fumes, noise and other plant conditions for 20% of work time.

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A person in a supervisory or leading position is accountable to his manager for the implementation of the HSEMS within his area of responsibility.
As such his duties and areas of authority are:

Duties:
¿ Setting a personal example in adherence to procedures.
¿ Ensuring that Company rules and procedures are known and understood by their subordinates.
¿ Raising awareness and providing guidance in directing employees under their supervision with regard to the execution of the HSEMS, both for Company Staff and Contractors without detracting from Contractors legal obligations.
¿ Ensuring compliance with Company Rules, Procedures and Instructions and applicable legislation.
¿ Assuring themselves and the persons under their supervision of the safety of their work site before commencing work.
¿ Taking the necessary measures to avert immediate threat of danger.
¿ Exercising such caution as is necessary to avoid danger to persons and installations or avoid pollution.

Maintaining:
¿ The working conditions with minimal risk of personal harm and adverse impact to the environment
¿ The Installations, equipment and tools.
¿ The means for personal protection.
¿ The resources and regular drills for handling emergency response ¿ hygienic conditions and good housekeeping.
¿ Supervising Contractor activities
¿ Ensuring the workplace is left behind in a correct and orderly state upon job/shift completion.
¿ Conducting regular inspections.
¿ Giving clear and concise instructions and information to their subordinates/staff.
¿ Participating in HSE Committees.
¿ Participating in the Company emergency response organization.
¿ Reporting any incident: anomaly, unsafe acts, near miss, damage, spill, injury, etc.
¿ Notifying relevant staff on accidents, incidents and near-misses.
¿ Investigating and reporting accidents or incidents, this occurred under their supervision.
¿ Initiating corrective/remedial action as result of findings of investigations

Authority
¿ Relieving persons from their duties in the case of non-compliance or violation of Standards, Company Rules, Procedures and Instructions and applicable legislation.
¿ Suspending activities when there is a potential or actual threat to human life, the installation or the environment.
¿ Take an active role upon facility/platform-abandonment, if danger to crew and/or facility/platform is imminent.

Minimum Requirements & Qualification:
¿ Completion of Secondary education (12 years) plus 2 years formal electronics training or equivalent, either BAG + 2 with special functions on DCS.ESD, F&G Control systems electronics and the like; +5 - 6 years experience in electrical instrumentation.

Or

¿ BAC + 4 with special function etc.; + 6-8 years experience in electrical instrumentation + TDC 3000 experience: 2 years
¿ 7-8 years experience in electronics, preferably related to DCS.ESD, F&G Control systems in oil industry or similar.
¿ Good knowledge of written and spoken English

Rate Range: To be Negotiated
Starting Date: 01/06/2012
Period Required: 3 years with possible extensions
Work Location: Abu Dhabi Offshore
Work Rotation Cycle: 29 days on duty / 27 days off duty
