Job description
Our client, a Consulting company based in Abu Dhabi is looking forward to recruit Research and Library Associate1) The RLA provides research tools to Center staff and trainees.
¿ Provide Resident and Non-Resident scholars and Secondees with recommendations of books, journals, websites and other media on requested topics.
¿ Provide research support for developing and maintaining training and research programs, including the CVE Atlas.
¿ Cataloguing and classification of print, audio-visual and electronic resources.
2) The RLA manages the planning, administrative and budgetary functions of the Center¿s library and information services.
¿ Establish and implement library policies and procedures, develop and manage cost-effective library and information services, order materials, and maintain records for payment of invoices.
¿ Provide effective access to library collections and resources. Develop and manage collections
3) The RLA provides research to the Directorate of Communications and Public Outreach.
¿ Research information and photos for newsletter and website.
¿ Write, edit, and proofread short articles for newsletter and website.
Required Qualifications
¿ Either at least five years of professional experience in a library or other research environment focused on social sciences, international affairs, public administration or the humanities, OR a Master¿s degree in library science, public communications or journalism and at least one year of professional experience in a library or other research environment focused on social sciences, international affairs, public administration or the humanities.
¿ Certified or demonstrable knowledge of research and information gathering systems and methods from a variety of information database systems; intermediate-level skill with word-processing, email, spreadsheets and MARC systems (experience with desktop publication and editing for publication will be given favorable additional consideration but is not required).
¿ Advanced professional competency in written and spoken English and Arabic (higher level (university-educated native speaker) will be given additional consideration but is not required; additional language skills (particularly French) at any level will be given additional consideration but are not required).
¿ Demonstrated track-record of maintaining professionalism and cultural awareness in an international center, international organization or firm, or other multicultural setting.
