Job description
Our client, an Educational Institution based in Abu Dhabi is looking for a dynamic business professional to lead the Finance Department.Performance Responsibilities:
¿ Manage all school accounting, financial and business services in a professional manner to ensure sound financial decisions are made to benefits the school
¿ Develop the annual budget in conjunction with the Superintendent and Finance Committee
¿ Compare actual results to budget on a regular basis and update forecast as necessary. Report results to Finance Committee for transmission to Fill Board
¿ Sit as a member on the Finance Committee. Attend all meetings and present financial reports as necessary.
¿ Attend monthly Board meetings
¿ Develop department staff, ensuring adequate cross-training and depth
¿ Engage in appropriate long range financial planning
¿ Monitor School¿s fiscal affairs and assets to ensure they are controlled and safe. Report the status of fiscal affairs to the Board of Trustees on a regular basis
¿ Schedule annual audit of financial statements and manage the engagement to ensure timely completion and issuance of audit report
¿ Ensure monthly accounts are reconciled on a timely basis
¿ Liaise with banks and supervise all banking transactions. Ensure authorized signatories are kept up-to-date.
¿ Supervise the accounting function and ensure payments, receipts and invoices are prepared in an efficient, accurate manner
¿ Manage school investments within guidelines set forth in Board policy
¿ Maintain updated Procedures Manual for all departmental processes
¿ Review school insurance needs, recommend cover and ensure required policies are in place
¿ Review employee contracts prior to distribution to ensure salaries are properly calculated
¿ Supervise payroll function to ensure salaries are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.
¿ Ensure year-end earnings statements are prepared that accurately reflect staff member¿s calendar year wages
¿ Provide financial input to annual Grant request through the Office of Overseas Schools
¿ Arrange for annual IRS Form 990 preparation and provide financial input and review
¿ Review school contracts and commitments relating to fidelity, liability, leases, construction contracts etc and provide input as necessary
¿ Prepare annual tuition increase request to Abu Dhabi Education Council
Minimum Requirements:
¿ Bachelor¿s degree in accounting (CPA preferred) with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
¿ MBA preferred.
¿ Responsible for managing all aspects of School¿s finance including accounting, budgeting and reporting.
¿ Experience with computerized accounting systems including planning, implementation and enhancement.
¿ Superior communication and presentation skills.
