Our client, a petrochemical company based in Abu Dhabi is looking forward to recruit Occupational Health Officer for their plant in Ruwais

Basic Function
Responsible for carrying out a wide range of Occupational hygiene inspections, investigations and audits for plant facilities and Company Head Office
Identifies plant chemical and biological hazards and develops prevention and control program
Carries out testing and monitoring of physical health hazards such as noise, vibration, radiation, lighting, heat and occupational stress
Participates in risk assessment and advice on hazards affecting health

Duties Performed
¿ Provides assistance to different departments in setting and implementing occupational hygiene objectives and work plans prioritized according to identified risks associated with various industrial operations of the company.
¿ Analyses the collected data to review occupational environment periodically to identify prevailing health hazards, personnel at risk based on job classification and task analysis and the type and extend of measurements required.
¿ Conducts or coordinates environmental testing and measurement of work environment to evaluate identified sources of airborne chemical contaminants, and biological agents considered hazardous to health (Silica, Asbestos, Lead, Mercury etc.) and of physical agents including noise, heat, light radiation etc., using a wide range of direct reading and static/personal sampling instruments. Determines exposure of personnel to airborne chemical contaminants and biological and physical agents and identifies area where further investigations are needed.
¿ Conducts testing and measurements to determine major sources of airborne contaminants such as Carbon Monoxide, Asbestos, Hydrogen Sulphide, Mercury, Lead, Silica, Sulphur Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, and other substances hazardous to health. Reviews exposure in relations to diseases, absence from work due to sickness and investigation of required PPE.
¿ Maintains updated record of personnel sick leaves and personnel occupational health matters. Liaises with all departments and Ruwais Area Medical Services. Advises Ruwais Personnel Administration on sick leaves and occupational health matters
¿ Maintains occupational health monitoring equipment inventory, calibration and maintenance.
¿ Coordinates with Hospital staff assessment of employee exposure to potential risk and damage caused by working environment. Supervises or personally performs necessary field and laboratory tests for hazards identification and risk control and provides interpretation of data. Evaluates the performance of equipment and engineering control measure adopted at various operations to reduce exposure to hazardous substances and harmful agents. Ensures proper loss prevention measures are in place to minimize employee exposure and provides required protection.
¿ Participates and prepares detailed reports on exposure to physical, biological and chemical agents and the performance of the methods of control and presents to management to keep them fully advised on the technical issues of occupational health, deviation from optimum conditions, existing and potential risks and any untoward consequences thereof. Includes evaluating/participating in recommendations for engineering control methods. Identifies and advises on ergonomics of work place.
¿ Assists in identifying and recommends personal protection and operational technical methods for controls of chemical, physical, mechanical and biological agents, which are hazardous to health in the various operations. Provides sufficient details on such substances and recommends, where practicable alternative non-hazardous materials to meet operational requirements.
¿ Inspects/surveys company buildings, plants, field operations and other premises in order to identify health hazards. Prepares inspections reports and recommends appropriate actions.
¿ Participates in Health, Safety and Environmental studies for new projects to Health Hazards Evaluation. Advises on on-site/off-site requirements. Provides advice and reviews as requested Contractor compliances with relevant HSE guidelines.
¿ Prepares, conducts and assures implementation of periodic educational programs with a view to promoting employees awareness of the health hazards and effects specific to the concerned operations.
¿ Performs other similar or related duties as assigned such as maintaining records, files and statistics related to the field.

Minimum Requirements
¿ Diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health (i.e., MIOH, MIOSH, PE, QEP)/or graduate degree preferred
¿ 6 (six) years experience in industrial hygiene, environmental health or closely related field
¿ Very good spoken and written English
¿ Must have good computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office
¿ UAE Driving license preferred
