Our client, a leading oil and gas company is looking forward to recruit Sr. Automation Engineer

Purpose
To provide operational, technical and engineering expertise in the field of Advanced Process Control, Optimization, Alarm Management and higher level applications.
To provide technical expertise in Telecommunication and Telemetry engineering design, various telecom systems SCADA, SMC and manage the development and execution of telecom and industrial IT related minor projects.

Background
The Senior Automation Engineer (APC) reports to the Principal Automation Engineer who reports to Automation, Control & Electrical Department Head in the Technical Support Division and interacts with Process Control personnel located at five sites as well as other support functions such as IT, Production Planning, Materials, Finance and Procurement divisions.

The business involves Gas gathering, processing and distribution. The efficient operations of these processes require optimum utilization of process control systems to realize and sustain the projected benefits.

The company has implemented new technology with respect to process control applications in some of the sites while other sites are in the process of implementing the same. There are also plans to integrate the business processes, which will involve changes in control strategy in the existing systems.

There are varieties of Industrial IT systems such as Real-Time database, Advanced Process Control, Plant Information & management, Laboratory Information management, Gas Wells SCADA, Pipeline network SCADA, Leak Detection system, etc. and while implementing them at different sites, the selected systems can be from differing technologies.

There is a need not only to provide technical and engineering support to the operating sites, but also to change the operating culture to effectively utilize the newer technology, which is very challenging. Only when this objective can be achieved, there will be the optimum realization of the benefits of new technology.

Main Accountabilities
¿ To provide Technical & Engineering expertise to Operating Divisions in the field of Process Control Applications such as Advanced Process control (APC) and Optimization, Alarm Management, Control Performance assessment, Data Reconciliation / Mass balance and higher level applications such as predictive equipment performance monitoring.
¿ To identify opportunities for improvement and implementation of all process control development and applications.
¿ To conduct economic feasibility studies to evaluate financial and technical viability of applications.
¿ To manage and co-ordinate implementation of approved projects including Scope of work, Tender documents, Technical Bid evaluation, Engineering, installation and commissioning and future upgrades.
¿ Develop, define benefit guarantee strategy for newer APC applications
¿ To develop the scope, tendering, award and renewal APC & higher level applications related sustained performance maintenance & support service agreements and ensure effective functioning
¿ To monitor and audit performance of Process Control systems and ensure that the systems conform to applicable standards and the benefit realization is maximized.
¿ To develop system functional specifications, design & as-built documentation, user manuals, training materials for minor modifications carried out in the existing applications.
¿ To co-ordinate with site maintenance personnel for development of Vendor support, modifications and upgrades.
¿ To develop the Five year business plan and the Annual budget requirements and follow-up on project execution and progress.

Main Challenges
¿ To rationalize and standardize the Advanced Process Control applications and integrate them for all sites.
¿ To assess the existing systems on obsolescence, spare parts availability, vendor support, inter-operability and integration, with no downtime on production in view of the present technology of the process control applications which are not standardized and most of them are Vendor proprietary systems. The Process control Industry is attempting to make the system ¿Open¿ in similar lines with IT Industry.
¿ To keep constantly updated on the technological developments and to translate the implications to our business in view of the variety of process control applications with changing technology to be supported.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Electronics/Communication Engineering with more than 10 years experience in oil and gas industry
